All Praise The Shopping Cart Tree

Welcome to the whitewashed halls
in the vast temple of commerce
Kneel down
Kneel further
Kneel until you are on the floor

Empty your wallet into our registers
Dig deep into your worn out pockets
Spend fast
Spend more
Spend until you turn into a void

Praise the shopping cart tree tonight
See how it feeds off of your delusions
It needs your enthusiasm
It needs your gullibility
It needs you to need it year-round

Every year the tree grows ever-higher
Each and every cart is filled to the brim
Filled with trinkets and toys
Filled with batteries and power strips
Filled with the latest and greatest products
designed to make your head spin and
keep you reaching
for your ever-shrinking wallet
In spite of the fact that it's empty
In spite of the fact that you have no credit
In spite of the fact that
Christmas has been put on Lay-Away
until Halloween or maybe Thanksgiving

No matter the reports to the contrary,
you must keep on spending and giving
The shopping cart tree is always hungry
and it cannot be chopped down anymore
