Poem From The Sea

Hello, my friend(s)

The words you are reading
are the last I shall ever write
A hurricane is drowning the
island I am marooned upon

I have maybe an hour
or
I maybe mere minutes

I am reaching out to you
You, who cannot save me
I am resigned to my fate
I have lived a rogue's life

I have tamed vicious lions
I have robbed frontier banks
I bedded a brothel in New Orleans
I have several bastard children
with several single mothers

I have survived African safaris
I have traversed Indian mountains
I have wandered Jamaican fields
I have endured Asian revolutions
Only to end up here...???

I do not know the day
or the month or the year
I keep time with the waves
now lapping at my swaying knees

The storm grows ever stronger
while my strength dwindles
Soon, I will be submerged
and that will be my end
For I never learned to swim!

Did I mention that I am wealthy?
Something of a media mogul
Water, now up to my waste,
has amplified my desperation

I want to fucking live!
I want to have sex until I chafe!
I want to drink into a splendid stupor!
I want to write a torrid novel!
I want to paint a self-portrait!
I want to step on the surface of Mars!
I want to cure Cancer and AIDS!
I want to skydive naked, while singing
"Who Wants to Live Forever"
at the very top of my lungs!

The water is up to my neck now
Must write faster now
The bottle is slipping
Do not forget me!
If you find this note,
please tell the world
that I survived the crash!
There is so much more
that I need to live for!
The money is buried here!
